THE ROWAYTON HISTORY TRAIL

THEN: The Top Drawer (1950s - c. 1970)

NOW: Rowayton Wine Shop (2022 - present)

The popular Top Drawer boutique sold ladies’ clothing during the 1950s and 1960s. Owner
Eleanor Murphy and her daughter Patti Burchard, in the photo on the front of the card, helped keep Rowayton women looking their stylish best.

In 1998 Bistro de Soleil arrived. It was a colorful restaurant, decorated with local artwork and offering delicious meals with a Chilean flair. When the bistro moved to South Norwalk, the neighboring real estate business, Van Slyck Associates, expanded their office space by merging 164 and 162 Rowayton Avenue.

From 2002 to 2022, Rowayton Wine Shop operated out of a smaller space two doors away at 158 Rowayton Avenue.
