THE ROWAYTON HISTORY TRAIL

THEN: Rowayton Liquor Mart (1973 - c.1981)

NOW: Chou Chou (c. 2018 - present)

The Rowayton Liquor Mart was owned by Don Craig. His artist wife, Nina Palleson Craig, was in charge of marketing and created many witty illustrated advertisements, like the one on the front of this card, that appeared in local newspapers. The Craigs faced competition from the village’s other liquor store, Lighthouse Liquors, which operated on the corner of Rowayton Avenue and McKinley Street.

Harbor Wines, owned by Dick Franko, succeeded Rowayton Liquor Mart at this location in 1986.
