THE ROWAYTON HISTORY TRAIL

THEN: Sinclair Gas Station (1920s - 1940s)

NOW: Fairfield County Bank (1974 - present)

With the popularity of cars on the rise following World War I, gas stations started popping up everywhere. One of the earliest ones in Rowayton was a Sinclair station on the corner of McKinley Street and Rowayton Avenue, which later became a Shell station. In 1974, the building became home to Rowayton’s first bank.
